Football Team
New Season: 2012 - 13

The School Football Team is now up and running.  A nucleus of 16 players has been established including 6 children from our P5 classes.  All 16 players when available play on Saturday match day.  Due to the state of our own football park we have sought and gained the cooperation of St Bernard’s Primary School to use theirs when they do not have a home game.  We thank all the staff at St Bernard’s for this kind gesture.  Rab, the janitor also advised we can use their canteen area to set up tea/coffee and biscuits for the parents and juice and crisps for the children of both teams something St Bernard’s put on for us.  This is a great idea which we want to adopt whilst occupying St Bernard’s and also when we return to playing home games at our own school.  We seek parent volunteers to help us deliver this hospitality.  Please get in touch.

Saturday past was an exciting game for our football team witnessing an excellent team performance and many individual battles.  Our Captain Liam led by example, ably supported by our goalkeeper Cameron, feisty defenders Christopher, Jamie, Declan and Shayaan and central midfielders Amaan and Palsingh.  In fact all the players put in a great shift which was obvious to the parents and families watching.  Our forward Erin scored a well taken penalty and was harshly denied another penalty by the referee.  She was clearly fouled so hopefully the team will get the rub of the green as the season progresses.

On Saturday 29 September 2012, the Football Team will be attending the St Mirren V Ross County Premier League Match, kick off 3:00pm.  Parents of the children in the School Football Team will be sent a separate letter containing a tear off permission slip for returning to the school.  We are currently arranging transport to and from the game.  St Mirren Football Club has provided us with complimentary tickets and will arrange for some of their professional players to attend one of our training sessions at a future date.  Immediately after the match against St Bernard’s, Paul our Coach, advised the children of this incentive which brought great smiles and excitement.  I am sure they are still talking about it!

We will be undertaking some fundraising very soon – Please help and support YOUR School Football Team.
